While seated in the Cabinet Room, Musk was photographed wearing a red Gulf of America cap styled similarly to the well-known “Make America Great Again (MAGA)” hats. Earlier in the year, on January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Although the new name has yet to receive international recognition, many US federal and domestic institutions have started adopting it. The cap also featured the numbers “45 – 47,” referencing Trump’s terms as the 45th and now the 47th US president.

Aside from the cap, Musk appeared to be dressed entirely in black. In one video, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader was seen wearing the red cap atop a black one before removing both to speak.

During the exchange, Trump joked, “Elon, I love your double hat, by the way. He’s the only one who can get away with that.” Musk quipped in response, “Well, Mr. President, as they say, I wear a lot of hats. Even my hat wears a hat!”

As soon as the images and footage surfaced, internet users shared a variety of reactions. One person humorously posted on Facebook, “Ah, Elon Musk’s double hat day at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday caused quite the stir! It seems that his unconventional decision to don two caps earned him some attention. I can only imagine the sight it would have been.”

However, not everyone focused on the hats. Some observers noticed something else entirely. One person asked“What’s the slice in his neck??😮😮,” while another echoed“what is on his neck? something happen to him? [sic]”

A concerned person questioned“Elon got a biopsy on his neck?” and added, “Hope he’s okay.” Another one inquired about the “scar on his throat,” and someone criticized his attire, “Does he even know that’s inappropriate attire for a cabinet meeting?”

Reactions continued, with one commenter posting“Good lord… Cringe,” while another said“Seriously that makes you ‘LMAO’? Talk about easily amused. Embarrassing.”

Back in February 2025, Musk shared a photo on X of himself inside the White House’s Oval Office. He was dressed in his typical black outfit and posed smiling with his arms outstretched while wearing an oversized red MAGA hat in front of the president’s desk.

At the start of March 2025, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt answered a reporter’s question about dress code expectations in the Oval Office. The reporter pointed out that some officials were “miffed” when Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited without wearing a suit.

When the reporter questioned Musk’s frequent casual attire, stating, “Elon Musk never wears a suit in there,” Leavitt responded, “He did last night.” She then laughed and added, “I think the president liked it very much.”

Musk is typically seen in a black T-shirt, long matching coat, and pants during his visits to the White House. The White House Senior Advisor latest White House appearance added another layer to his evolving public persona. The DOGE leader’s blend of humor, symbolism, and style continues to spark curiosity and debate across political and cultural lines.

This isn’t the first time in recent months that Musk has been in the news. As previously reported, a report has revealed a surprising private exchange between the Tesla CEO and a crypto influencer during a peak into her online fame.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX, once asked cryptocurrency commentator Tiffany Fong if she was interested in having his child. The request came via a direct message on X in late 2023, during a period of increased interaction between Musk and Fong.

Musk is known for being highly active on X, often posting multiple times a day about his companies and political views. While many of his tweets attract widespread attention, he also frequently engages with lesser-known accounts—sometimes liking their posts, replying publicly, or reaching out via private messages.

According to people familiar with the matter, he has occasionally used these interactions to propose fathering children with women he has never met in person.

Fong came into Musk’s orbit while covering the collapse of crypto tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried. Her profile grew as she began posting political content supportive of Donald Trump. Musk followed her in the summer of 2023 and started interacting with her posts more regularly.

This engagement was a significant boost: Fong gained a large following and earned $21,000 in just two weeks in November through X’s revenue-sharing program.

She even posted a screenshot of her exact earnings—$21,252.25 from November 8 to November 22—which stirred public speculation. One sarcastic remark from someone on X read, “Breaking: Tiffany Fong pregnant with Elon Musk’s 17th child,” referencing both the large payout and her online interactions with Musk.

That same month, Musk allegedly messaged her with the offer to have his child. Fong declined, reportedly because she envisioned raising children in a more traditional family setting. She later confided in a few friends, including fellow conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair, but was concerned the rejection could affect her earnings.

Once Musk learned she had disclosed the message to others, he scolded her for lacking discretion and unfollowed her. Her follower engagement and earnings soon began to decline.

Fong has publicly denied ever meeting Musk in person and told Daily Mail that the pregnancy rumor was completely false. Additionally, in February, she posted a screenshot of a headline mocking the rumor and captioned it, “We live in a clown world. 🤣😭.”

On X, she joked, “Wow according to the internet, i’m ‘pregnant.’ congrats to me this is huge news [sic]!!!” followed by, “As far as i know, i am not pregnant, but thank you [sic]!!!”

When contacted by The Independent for a comment on this report, Fong clarified that she did not leak anything to the Wall Street Journal and “would have rather kept it private.”

Beyond this specific incident, Fong is known for her unconventional rise in the crypto media space. She lives in Las Vegas most of the time and balances several gigs, including running an e-commerce site.

After losing access to her crypto funds when Celsius froze customer withdrawals in 2022, she began posting updates on YouTube. Her first video, meant to vent her frustration, soon turned into a growing platform where she shared legal updates and interviews.

Her role in covering the FTX saga brought further attention. In November 2022, she released audio recordings of a phone call with Bankman-Fried, offering insights into his mindset after the FTX collapse.

She disclosed that she was not a journalist but wanted to provide a balanced account of his words. During Bankman-Fried’s house arrest, she also received and shared documents he had written, including notes about his financial accounts.

In her LinkedIn bio, Fong describes herself as a “reluctant crypto content creator.” She has previously worked as a volunteer crisis counselor and held internships in public relations and entertainment law.

A graduate of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, her name has appeared in outlets such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Bloomberg. Despite her media reach, she warns followers to be cautious of impersonators and scams using her name.

While Fong might not be Musk’s baby’s mother, her friend St. Clair revealed that she is. In a series of developments detailed by The Wall Street Journal in their April 15 issue, the former “The Babylon Bee” commentator disclosed that the child, named Romulus, was born five months prior.

The name has since sparked online conversations, particularly following St. Clair’s social media confirmation earlier this year. On Facebook, some users expressed a mix of empathy and sarcasm. One person wrote“That name isnt as bad as some of the other kids names [sic].” Another commented“I really feel bad for this child.”

A third added“Well, at least Romulus is a NAME and not part of a mathematical equation, like poor X Æ A-Xii. That poor kid is probably going to have some issues….”

Reactions on Instagram were similarly varied. One netizen wrote“Its his kid. Straight up. Name like that [sic]!” Another said“What a name [sic].” A second one added, “Poor baby.”

Meanwhile, another person asked“Why and how [sic].” Yet another reader divulged“Romulus? i mean i loved the new alien movies but that’s a little much gang [sic].”

According to The Wall Street Journal, Musk offered St. Clair a $15 million one-time payment along with $100,000 per month in support in return for her silence about their child.

The agreement included keeping Musk’s name off the birth certificate and maintaining secrecy about their relationship. St. Clair agreed initially by complying with the request to omit Musk’s name from the birth certificate. However, she ultimately did not sign the full agreement.

The arrangement would have restricted St. Clair from discussing Musk in relation to their child or criticizing him publicly. If she violated those terms, she would be required to return the $15 million lump sum.

The contract did not include support in case the child became gravely ill, security provisions, a trust fund, or life insurance in the event of Musk’s death before their son turned 21. It also allowed Musk to speak negatively about St. Clair without similar limitations on his part.

One of the main points of concern for St. Clair was how the agreement might affect her son. She reportedly felt it would make Romulus feel illegitimate. In addition, she sought a paternity test, which is a requirement for child-support agreements in New York, where she resides, according to her attorney Karen B. Rosenthal.

St. Clair also tried to address the situation directly with Musk, but said he ignored her texts. In February, after learning that a tabloid was preparing a story about their relationship, she preempted the news by posting on X, as shared by The Wall Street Journal.

“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” she wrote. “I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

Following this post, Musk reportedly withdrew the $15 million offer. When court proceedings began over paternity testing and a gag order requested by Musk, the support offer was reduced to $40,000 per month, coinciding with a rise in St. Clair’s legal fees.

By the time The Wall Street Journal contacted Musk for comment on Thursday, April 10, St. Clair said she did not receive the child support payment scheduled for the next day. Late on Tuesday, Musk’s team sent $20,000, effectively cutting her stipend in half again.

St. Clair disclosed that Musk’s representative, Jared Birchall, told her similar nondisclosure agreements had been made with other mothers of Musk’s children. Birchall was also the one who urged her to sign the confidentiality documents after Romulus was born.

Musk, known for his focus on space exploration, has previously stated on X that making humanity multiplanetary is essential to ensure “the long-term survival of humanity and all life as we know it.”

Sources close to him noted that he is motivated by a belief that civilization is under threat due to a declining population. As part of that goal, Musk reportedly aims to help populate the Earth with individuals of high intelligence.

During St. Clair’s pregnancy, Musk suggested they bring in additional women to accelerate the process. According to a text message reviewed by the Journal, he wrote, “To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates.”

He refers to his children as a “legion,” likening them to Roman military units that helped expand the empire’s reach. In other private correspondence, Musk expressed fear about the risks of revealing his involvement, texting St. Clair that he considered himself the “#2 after Trump for assassination,” and adding that “only the paranoid survive.”

The public conversation about Elon Musk’s children often extends beyond headlines and financial arrangements. In past years, attention has also focused on the unconventional names chosen for his kids — and the reasons behind them.

In 2020, Musk and his former partner, musician Grimes, introduced their first child together with a name that generated global debate: X Æ A-12.

The unique choice prompted widespread curiosity, which Grimes addressed publicly online, “X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent. (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat).”

In a follow-up post on X, she added, “I think it sounds like the name of the main character in the story I hope he vibes with that. Ok, going back into the pain/ beauty reverie for sum time, just came on to add my thoughts. Peace to all [sic].”

Later, in a 2022 Vanity Fair interview, Grimes — whose real name is Claire Boucher — shared deeper insight into the challenges and complexities of her relationship with Musk.

According to the article, she often goes by Grimes, Claire, or even “c,” referencing the scientific symbol for the speed of light.

Grimes explained that, especially after becoming a mother, much of her identity was overshadowed by her association with Musk.

She described Musk as deeply involved in their son’s life, “X is just out there. I mean, I think E is really seeing him as a protégé and bringing him to everything and stuff.… X is out there. His situation is like that.”

She became visibly uncomfortable during parts of the interview, indicating how sensitive and private the topic had become. At one point, when the interviewer heard a baby crying upstairs, Grimes laughed and confessed, “She’s a little colicky too,” confirming the arrival of her and Musk’s second child, a daughter known as Y.

While Grimes did not initially confirm the child’s full name, the article revealed that the couple had used a surrogate, allowing them to keep the pregnancy and birth out of public view.

Grimes described the pregnancy with her first child as physically difficult, “I hemorrhaged. It was scary.” She also mentioned collapsing during late pregnancy due to nerve pressure, which required her to crawl instead of walk.

In the same interview, she said Musk and she were no longer traditionally “together,” explaining their relationship as “very fluid.”

They lived in separate homes, saw each other regularly, and considered each other best friends. When asked whether they planned to expand their family, she said, “We’ve always wanted at least three or four.”

Musk had previously confirmed their separation in 2021, attributing it to distance and demanding careers. He had been spending more time in Texas, near the SpaceX Starbase and a new Tesla Gigafactory, while Grimes was based in Los Angeles and later Austin, where she continued to raise X and work on new creative projects.
