‘If there’s anything we can do…’: Trump calls Air India crash ‘one of the worst in aviation history’, offers India assistance

An Air India passenger plane bound for London crashed into a medical college in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad after takeoff Thursday in one of India’s worst airline disasters in decades, officials said. The flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew, including 53 British nationals, when it came down in Ahmedabad.

US President Donald Trump has offered to help India following “horrific” plane crash in Ahmedabad that left one known survivor from 242 on board.

“I let them know that anything we can do — we’ll be over there immediately. But it was a horrific crash,” Trump told reporters during a White House event. President Trump spoke to reporters about the Air India plane crash, calling it “one of the worst in aviation history.” Trump also said he offered India any assistance they might need, reports NBC News. “It was a horrible accident. Anything we can do, we will do,” he said.

Expressing condolences over the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad and offered support to India in the aftermath of the tragedy, the US President said, “Nobody has any idea what it might be I gave them a couple of pointers, we saw the plane, and it looked like it was flying pretty well, it didn’t look like there (could be) an explosion. It just looked like maybe the engines lost power.” (sic)
