What was supposed to be a fun summer outing ended in heartbreak when 11-year-old Jordan Roe died saving her younger cousin in a tubing accident on Star Lake, Florida, on June 24, 2025.
Jordan, along with her 8-year-old cousin Laila and a 9-year-old friend Brylee, were being pulled on a tube behind a Sea-Doo jet ski when it collided with a dock. The impact threw all three girls into the water.
A Hero in the Face of Danger
In those final moments, Jordan acted without hesitation. According to her family, she pushed Laila out of harm’s way, shielding her with her own body. While Brylee suffered minor injuries, Laila was badly hurt and rushed to the hospital. Jordan sadly did not survive.
“She was always the protector,” said Jordan’s aunt. “She gave her life so Laila could live.”
A Loving Sister, Future Veterinarian, and True Hero
Jordan was known for her kindness, bravery, and love for animals. She dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and often looked out for her cousins and siblings. In death, she continued her compassion by becoming an organ donor, saving lives even after her own ended.
Her mother described her as “the kind of child who would light up a room with a smile,” and said the family is both devastated and proud of her final act of love.

Laila’s mother, Kristine Robinson, was in Tampa caring for her newborn when she got the terrible call. She now urges all families to hug their children a little tighter and to take water safety seriously.
“It happened so fast. You think it won’t happen to you — until it does,” she said.
