DHS Says Unaccompanied Minors Found On Calif. ‘Pot Farm’ During DHS Raid

Federal immigration agents, supported by the National Guard, executed coordinated raids at two cannabis farms in Southern California, resulting in the arrest of numerous individuals, including undocumented minors, as noted by the Department of Homeland Security on Friday.

The operation incited violent confrontations with law enforcement and attracted several hundred protesters who appeared shortly after the arrival of immigration agents, according to KTLA.

The immigration sweeps occurred simultaneously at approximately 8:30 a.m., targeting Glass House Farms in Camarillo and another facility located about 35 miles to the north in Carpinteria.

In Camarillo, aerial footage from the outlet’s Sky5 revealed a significant presence of federal law enforcement in the fields as agents apprehended workers while crowds of protesters began to assemble.

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott announced on X that 10 undocumented minors were found at the Camarillo farm, including eight unaccompanied children. He further stated that Glass House is currently under investigation for possible violations of child labor laws.

He also directed a pointed remark at California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, who seems to be preparing for a presidential run in 2028. He commented: “This is Newsom’s California.”

Following the raid, Newsom utilized social media to denounce the Trump administration and the immigration enforcement actions, prompting a response from the Department of Homeland Security’s X account that simply asked: “Why are there children working at a marijuana facility, Gavin?”

“The Biden administration lost approximately 300,000 unaccompanied children—many of these innocent children were trafficked and exploited,” DHS also posted on X. “At the Ventura, California marijuana facility, [ICE] and [CBP] law enforcement rescued 8 unaccompanied migrant children from what appears to be exploitation, violations of child labor laws, and potentially human trafficking or smuggling.”

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli confirmed the operation in a post on X. “Federal agents are executing a search warrant at this marijuana farm,” he stated. “Agents have already apprehended several individuals for obstructing this operation and will persist in making further arrests. Do not interfere. You will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.”

The situation escalated around 12:35 p.m. when authorities utilized tear gas and less-lethal rounds against crowds of protesters who had obstructed both the northbound and southbound lanes of Laguna Road.

Subsequently, Essayli shared a video on X depicting what appears to be a man shooting at federal agents.

“[The] FBI has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of an Unknown Subject who seemed to fire a pistol at Federal Law Enforcement Officers near Camarillo,” he noted. “The shooting took place on 7/10/25 at approximately 2:26 p.m. on Laguna Rd between Wood Rd and Las Posas Rd.”

On Friday, President Donald Trump remarked that he has granted federal immigration agents “total authorization” to defend themselves following confrontations with protesters during an enforcement operation at a cannabis farm in California.

“I am returning from Texas and watched in disbelief as THUGS were violently hurling rocks and bricks at ICE Officers while they were traveling down a roadway in their car and/or official vehicle. Significant damage was inflicted on these brand new vehicles,” he expressed on Truth Social.

“Consequently, I am instructing Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and Border Czar, Tom Homan, to direct all ICE, Homeland Security, or any other Law Enforcement Officer who is subjected to thrown rocks, bricks, or any other form of assault, to halt their vehicle, and detain these SLIMEBALLS, employing whatever means necessary to accomplish this,” Trump added.
