7 Little-Known Facts About Samantha Busch and Her Life With NASCAR Driver Kyle Busch

Just days after NASCAR confirmed the sudden death of Kyle Busch at age 41, many fans have turned their attention to the woman who stood beside him through every stage of his career.

Samantha Busch’s story stretches far beyond race-day appearances and family photos. Over the years, she quietly built her own identity as an entrepreneur, IVF advocate, author, and businesswoman.

And some of the most surprising parts of her journey began long before she ever stepped onto a racetrack. The couple’s relationship often looked polished from the outside.

Yet behind the scenes, Samantha openly documented painful setbacks, fertility struggles, and even the marriage counseling that helped them stay together after devastating loss.

Now, as tributes continue pouring in for the late NASCAR champion following his sudden hospitalization and death, these seven facts reveal a deeper look at Samantha Busch’s life and the years she shared with him.

She Had No Idea Who Kyle Busch Was When They Met

One of the most unexpected details about Samantha and Kyle’s love story is that she did not even recognize him the first time they met.

In a 2023 Instagram post, Samantha explained that she was working as a promotional model for Chevy while heading into her senior year at Purdue University. She described herself as “a sorority girl” and admitted she was “not the sportiest of types.”

It was also her first time at a racetrack. During the event in Indianapolis, Samantha was assigned to encourage fans to take Chevy ride-alongs around the track.

The weather was brutally hot, and she later joked that she only accepted a ride because the car had air conditioning. What she did not realize was that Kyle had specifically asked someone to invite her into the car after spotting her from afar.

Samantha later recalled blurting out, “Wow, you got a way better assignment than I did,” after climbing into the passenger seat beside him. According to her, Kyle assumed she knew who he was. She didn’t.

The pair exchanged numbers after Kyle had someone ask for hers, and they reportedly spent four months talking on the phone before going on their first official date.

She Studied Psychology Before Entering the NASCAR World

Long before becoming known to racing fans, Samantha had a completely different career path in mind.

According to the bio section of her official website, she grew up in northwestern Indiana and studied psychology at Purdue University before earning a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology.

After marrying Kyle in 2010, she became co-owner of Kyle Busch Motorsports and quickly immersed herself in the NASCAR business world.

The racing organization went on to achieve major success, including dozens of Truck Series wins and multiple championships. Still, Samantha also carved out her own lane.

She launched a lifestyle blog that eventually evolved into a larger platform focused on fitness, beauty, recipes, motherhood, and family life. Over time, she built a sizable social media following while traveling with the NASCAR circuit nearly full-time.

Their Wedding Became a TV Special

Kyle and Samantha’s wedding was not exactly a quiet affair. The couple married on New Year’s Eve in 2010 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago, according to both People and Sports Illustrated.

The ceremony was later featured in the one-hour Style Network special “Fast and the Fabulous: A NASCAR Wedding.”

Reflecting on the day, Samantha said, “It was the most amazing feeling walking out of the church as the new Mr. and Mrs. Busch. All of our friends and family were outside clapping, and it was just such a great feeling.”

She also described the wedding planning process as months of preparation that finally came together in a “unique, different feel.” Even years later, the wedding remained one of the most talked-about moments in their public relationship.

She Became a Powerful Voice for IVF Awareness

While Samantha initially gained followers through lifestyle content, many people connected with her after she began openly discussing infertility.

According to her website, she and Kyle struggled for years to start a family before eventually turning to IVF treatments. In 2015, the couple welcomed their son, Brexton, after what Samantha described as a physically and emotionally exhausting journey.

In a lengthy blog post documenting Brexton’s birth, Samantha shared deeply personal details about labor, fear, pain management, and Kyle’s support throughout the delivery process.

At one point, she admitted she initially hoped to avoid an epidural but eventually changed course during labor. “There is no award for natural versus epidural!” she wrote.

She also described Kyle as her “rock” during the experience, recalling how he coached her through contractions and remained by her side throughout hours of labor. Brexton was born on May 18, 2015.

She Publicly Shared Her Fertility Struggles

Years after welcoming Brexton through IVF, Samantha continued documenting the difficult reality of trying to expand their family.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post shared in November 2018, Samantha revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage after suddenly experiencing severe bleeding and rushing to the doctor.

At first, there was still a small possibility the pregnancy could continue. But follow-up blood work later confirmed the loss.

“I really can’t even begin to process that she is gone and I won’t be holding our sweet girl in my arms this summer,” Samantha wrote at the time.

The loss became one of several painful setbacks during the couple’s fertility journey. In March 2021, Samantha also opened up about the anxiety she experienced while waiting for the results of another embryo transfer.

Speaking to People, she admitted she was struggling with what she described as “PTSD anxiety” after years of disappointing news. “I’m literally having some kind of, like, PTSD anxiety right now. I could have tested this morning but I panicked and I didn’t,” she said.

“It sounds so stupid because we’ve been waiting so long. So I was sitting there this morning and I had the stick and I was like, ‘I can’t do it. I can’t do it.’ I just panicked.” She later added: “I’d rather just keep telling myself I’m pregnant and not have to know.”

Two months later, Samantha shared another deeply personal update in a May 2021 Instagram video, where she explained that she briefly believed she was pregnant again before learning it was a false alarm.

Despite the setbacks, she remained hopeful throughout the process. That hope eventually led to another major chapter for the family.

Her Marriage to Kyle Faced Serious Challenges

One of the least-known aspects of Samantha and Kyle’s relationship involved the difficult period that followed the miscarriage. During a YouTube interview, Samantha revealed that the loss created tension between them because they processed grief differently.
